CITY BASICS

Shenzhen essentials

A practical field guide for a comfortable free day — transport, payments, connectivity, weather and help in one place.

01
Getting around

Open destinations from this guide in Google Maps. For DiDi or a street taxi, copy the Chinese address and keep the Sentosa Hotel address saved as your return point.

02
Mobile payments

Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay before the free day and bind an international card. Test a small payment first and keep a bank card or a little cash as backup.

03
Internet & battery

International roaming or an eSIM can make familiar services easier to reach. Save key addresses offline and carry a charged power bank for maps, translation and payments.

04
Language made easy

Show drivers the large Chinese address in this guide. A translation app or a screenshot of the destination is often the quickest way to confirm where you are going.

05
August weather

Shenzhen is usually hot, humid and changeable in August. Bring water, sun protection and a compact umbrella; choose an indoor option if thunderstorms are forecast.

06
Help & peace of mind

Police 110 · Ambulance 120 · Fire 119. Exploring with a friend and sharing your plan in the project group makes a relaxed day even easier.
